This week we have been reading ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers.
We have predicted what might happen in the story and then after reading the book, we have sequenced pictures. In our topic lesson we made some stick puppets and had a go at acting out the story. Later in the week we are going to retell the story in our own words.

We have been reading a book this week called A Balloon for Grandad. The balloon travels all over the world to see Grandad Abdullah. We have been learning new adjectives to describe all the places the balloon went.
Challenge: Write a sentence about the desert.
When we return on 4th January our new topic will be called Wish you Were Here.

Noun Explorer Game
This week we have started finding out about information texts. We began by looking atÂ them and made a list of the features we could see. On our second day we cut up some reports and sorted the features into different boxes.

This week in English we haveÂ retold the story of George, the Dragon and the Princess.
Challenge: Â Who is the story about? Where is the story set? What happens?
In Maths we have moved onto word problems. You need to use your reading and maths skills to answer these.
Read the question carefully! Write a number sentence and work out the answer.
- There are 24 ducks in the castle moat, if 30 more ducks swims along, how many ducks are there altogether?
- A baby dragon has 135 sharp teeth, he grows 24 more. How many teeth does he have altogether?
- The King has 171 shiny crowns, the Queen gives him 25 more, how many does he have altogether?
Challenge: Can you write your own word problem? Can any anyone work out the answer?
This week we have been looking at a new book. Today in our classes we read the story and made up some actions to hep us remember the words. Tomorrow we will be acting out the story and later in the week we will move onto planning and writing our own story, inspired by this book.

In our first week we have been reading Tell Me A Dragon by Jackie Morris.
We have been thinking about all the different dragons and where they might live. We have been using adjectives to describe the different dragons.
Challenge: Which dragon is your favourite? Can you think of five adjectives to describe this dragon?
This week we have been finding out about worms.
We have built a wormery and been digging in the garden to find worms to put in it.
We made a prediction about what will happen to the layers of sand and soil after a few weeks.
Mrs Williamson was working in 2SG and we had a go at writing some worm poems and songs.
